Chanukah 5771

This is going to be a very picture heavy post; I am NOT posting video now because it will take forever...

Shai made it back to gan in time for his party last Wednesday night:

Somehow the rest is video; it will have to wait!

And Emmanuel Tzvi was a "source of light" this past Monday:

And the love affair with the flourescent light continued (making it very difficult to take pictures in the dark)...

Oops...

I guess I don't have much of a push to post when any one of you is here...which would explain why I haven't posted since June! (Oops, sorry.)

Yitzchak Meir has a well-baby checkup on Monday. He's almost 7kg (6.95, to be exact) and 62cm tall (25"). He's almost out of the 3-6 month clothes and I just unpacked the 6 month and 6-9 month supply.

I will try to post some pictures later.

Say Cheese!

That's right, Yitzchak Meir now smiles. Not quite on demand, but we're working on it. I'll have to try to catch it on film. (On memory card? Doesn't have quite the same ring to it.)

In other news, at his check-up last week he weighed in at 4.4kg (almost 10lbs.)...ET was that size at 2 months; Shai didn't get there until the 3 month mark.

My Eyes are Dim...

But I can see, as long as I've got my specs with me!

Allah is NOT a Mouse!

The kids have a Saba Tuvya DVD fdepicting various stages of the history of the state. They watched it today for Yom Ha'atzmaut.

One of the skits is about the pioneers having to complete a building overnight, because the law states that a structure with a roof cannot be destroyed/demolished. Within the skit are two Arab characters trying to puzzle out how these Jews managed to get their hands on so much building material and erect a complete building when at dusk there had been NOTHING there. (To be fair, the British are made fun of similarly, when the army captain can't find the building on a map, and is "astonished".)

Anyway, on seeing these two Arab guys on the screen, my politically left-wing bleeding heart DH made a comment something like "Allahoo akhbar" (Allah is great), which Emmanuel Tzvi heard as "Allahoo achbar" (Allah is a mouse). And promptly replied:
"Allah lo achbar"
"Allah chatool"

We are pacifier free!

And have been since erev Pesach. The daycare looked at me slightly askance yesterday when I brought Shai back without one, but too darn bad. After a week + without it I'm not about to reintroduce it. I just figured it would be an easier "battle" to win than the toilet training one, and if there's a relapse when baby arrives it will be easier to deal with that too.

Chol hamoed was quiet. Gilla took the boys to the zoo on Wednesday, so Kopul and I had the day to ourselves. We napped and took care of some stuff around the house. Booooooooring. But necessary.

HERE is the picture you've been waiting for!

The scanner at work is not very good, but here's what I could get.

New "tik"

Sigh. Emmanuel Tzvi's bright yellow knapsack (you know, the one that Mommy shipped that was MINE) disappeared the last day before Chanukah. Though I'm pretty sure someone took it home by accident, it has not reappeared. So we were using that see through plastic one we had bought for the plane. The stitching finally tore the plastic last week. So last night I pulled out a piece of scrap denim, removed the straps and the cord from the old bag, and revved up the sewing machine. 3 year old boys can be pretty hard on their stuff, so I hope the stitching holds up!

(Oh, and I found the leftover puff paint from the chuppah...)

Just Like Auntie Deborah

This isn't the picture you've all been waiting for, but it's highly reminiscent of another one...

...Right down to the hair colour.
